Mitsubishi Motors releases its four-passenger pure electric vehicle 'i MiEV'

Mitsubishi Motors displayed its four-passenger pure electric vehicle 'i MiEV' at the company's showroom in Tokyo, Japan, which is expected to be released on July 16th.
With its high-qualified electric motor and clever packaging, the i-MiEV offers an intelligent combination of useful performance with smooth acceleration control, plus a roomy interior and a sensible range of approximately 80 miles from its advanced lithium-ion battery pack.
It never exhausts CO2 at all because it is run by the Electric motor instead of an engine. Moreover, including some from electricity generation, i-MiEV can reduce up to 70% of CO2 comparing to usual electric cars. It can be simply charged by using general home electricity. In that case with 200v electricity, it takes 7 hours to charge and if you use quick charger, you can charge 80% in thirty minutes.

Suggested price is 4,599,000(JPY), much higher than gasoline cars but now Japanese Government offers subsidies in terms of eco-friendly car policy so Japanese people can buy this in 35% lower price.

Scientists discover `fountain of youth' drug that can extend life by ten years

Daily Mail of England reported that a miraculous `elixir of youth' which could extend the human life span by more than a decade is being developed by scientists.

This anti-aging pill is created from a drug, rapamycin, which is found in the soil of Easter Island - one of the most remote and mysterious places on the planet.

Dr. Arlan Richardson, who led the research at the Barbershop Institute for Longevity and Aging of Texas, said; `I never thought we would find an anti-aging pill for people in my lifetime. However, rapamycin shows a great deal of promise to do just that.'
This drug is already used to suppress the immune systems of organ transplant patients.

He also said; 'Scientists might develop the real elixir of youth in ten years. If an ageing drug delays every aspect of getting old, then users could enjoy 100 years of good health. '

The team said that the drug increased the maximum life span of the mice from 1,094 days to 1,245 days for females, and from 1,078 to 1,179 days for males.
From the point the mice began the treatment, the drug extended the females' life expectancy by 38 per cent, and males by 28 per cent. Overall it expanded their life span by 9 to 14 per cent.
What amazed the scientists is that the drug worked even though the mice started to be given it only in middle and old age.

The result of this research was published in the latest `Nature' journal.

Stealing food from public refrigerator

Some food was stolen from the refrigerator in the one student dormitory of Yokohama. In fact, this happens at least once in every student dormitory but still the effective way to solve this problem is not found yet. The kind of food which is stolen a lot is sweets.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The original script--------------------------

This is one of the female dormitories in Yokohama. A week ago, Ms Cheng's pudding and coffee disappeared from the refrigerator which was on third floor. Two weeks later, Ms Noel's yakisoba bread also disappeared. After this happened, another victims showed up and started writing on the board about what were stolen. This was the first time happened this year since the last case happened last year. This dormitory has two refrigerators on third and fifth floor and all the students share them.

Ms Cheng: I think that picking people's food from the refrigerator is very unacceptable because I think we should be considerate of other people and should respect each other for the people living in the dorm.

Ms Noel: I think it is totally unacceptable because we are college students now since we are exchange students I think it is really ridiculous because I wouldn't expect that happen somewhere like Japan among college students...

Today it turned out that there have been more than ten victims since March. Then manager of the dormitory announced his stand point. He said he would figure for stealing food as soon as possible and he begged students' cooperation.

Erin Brockovich, 2000

We become happy by her miraculous story.

Erin was a woman who divorced twice and all the money she had was sixteen dollars in her account. She had to worry about her immediate life because of being unemployed. She went or called directly to several companies but no place called her back, a woman graduated only from high school without any certificate of qualifications. In a desperate situation, she finally visited Laywer Ed who she came to know because of an accident and just stayed in his office without permission. Ed, a man of tender mind, finally asked her to adjust the accounts but it was natural that her co-workers didn't like her as she was rude with a rough attitude and glamorous looks. But she continued to do her work ignoring other people.
One day, she found some suspicious medical files from tons of documents. She became interested in that case and found some surprising news while investigating the truth again and was a large corporation PG&E which which made the people living around sick from Chromium drained out from the plant. Erin started the biggest battle ever against a huge corporation with Ed's help and won.

The power of a true story seems so strong. Even though the story sounds and seems unbelievable although it is a true story, everything can be forgiven and come to get more attention. This movie , the story of a real woman Erin Brochovich could appeal to the audiences thanks to Julia Roberts who acted perfectly just like she was the real Erin. Actually the most curious thing in this movie is that the director was Steven Soderbergh, as no other person could have made this human touching drama. In addition the real Erin was also a glamorous, fascinating woman who really looks like Julia Roberts. She was a Miss Pacific Coast in a beauty contest. Our Julia Roberts was nominated for an Academy Awards and won the Golden Globe Actress title for the first time in her life.

Policemen stabbed in his eye by a citizen

Last week, it happened that one combat policeman was stabbed in his eye by a bamboo spear. He got a terrible injury and mother brought a suit against the citizen who stabbed him.
At the end of last week, a big tragedy happened. The past president Moohyun No jumped out from a rocking stone when his guardian was looking at other passengers just for a moment and finally he died. His sudden death shocked all Koreans.
Before he died, he was called the Supreme Public Prosecutors Office for the investigation about what he did with the official money during his tenure as president.
Now people say that the investigation period made him weak physically and mentally inclined him to suicide. From yesterday, there has been a long row near Gyungbok Palace for a call of condolence and many people have been visiting including both members for his administration and present administration. But most of the main members from the present administration were not accepted by supporters for the past president and some members from the governing party were even pushed or hit by them. There will be a funeral ceremony for Mr. No and also the people of condolences until this week. There is a high possibility of offensive movement between people from both sides and definately more combat policemen will be stationed at important spots. That means there can be the same accident of a stabber with bamboo spear again. If it happens, this time there will be a huge movement to make some concrete rules for the safety of combat policemen and the conflict between safety of the policemen and the defense right of the civilian will be brought severely. The people working for public police agency or present government need to make realistic and considerate plan in advance to avoid this from happening again.
